Modelling - The naked truth

The model industry has come a long way, with girls standing up for themselves, and many attaining University degrees, etc, so why is exploitation still so prevalent in Australia?

We probably need to get back to nature, or Adam and Eve to understand this.  Life would have been bliss back then, walking around a-la-natural in the freedom of a non-perverted society.  Watch the odd documentary to see that this still exists today, in the few remote tribes in Africa.  Those special groups which live in community, caring for each other, and not overly affected by our western ways.

Clearly there is beauty in the natural form, and fine art has its place if done tastefully, but these days more and more males get into this industry for the wrong reasons, or later struggle to control themselves when confronted by temptation.

MEN NEED TO RESPECT WOMEN MORE!

We are seeing a boom of so called photographers happy to shoot models for free, on sites like Model Mayhem, Starnow, or amateur Facebook hook up groups.  Most of them will not like this article and still claim to be legitimate, but we do know for a fact that there are many ‘wolves in sheep clothing’… so  beware girls!

Models are being lured in almost daily under the promise of submission to magazines, great exposure, and big opportunities. While this success comes to the occasional few happy for a run in a mens mag, what happens to the rest?

You are now looking at the easiest opportunity ever for the old peeping tom, flasher, pervert or paedophile we once heard of.  Today they just need a camera or pretend to be a photographer to get many aspiring models happy to disrobe for them.

PEEPING TOMS NOW HOLD A CAMERA

We’ve heard far too many stories about girls being lured to hotel rooms for a “professional” photo shoot, before being pressured into things they were not expecting.  There are even some “Pros” still seeking sexual favours for the privilege of a shoot too.

Please never undress for a Skype casting either. this is also a common form of new age scam for their pleasure, and often recorded to blackmail or pressure in other ways later.  A bikini should always show more than enough for any genuine professional assessment.

LET'S CLARIFY AND BREAK THIS MYTH...…

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GET NAKED TO BE A MODEL!

This is a lie often told by so called photographers or those exploiting, to lure in naïve models. No doubt you are beautiful, but this is not necessary unless you want the attention of a porn star.

Putting yourself into that position increases your risk of attracting predators dramatically.

I know many smart and successful models who have never done the walk of shame or felt that disappointment after being pressured.

If someone if offering a shoot at no cost, consider what’s in it for them… Especially a “professional” who if genuine should be shooting with amazing models all the time.

Sure there are times when certain shoots require less clothing or to be done a certain way, but only go there if it's explained upfront, and you're comfortable with that. Those trashy type images done by amateurs often look more like soft porn than art, and will not propel your career like the promises suggested.

As a man I am often appalled to hear the actions of some individuals taking advantage, then even go on to boast of their exploits with models, unawares that not all men are predators like them.

A FEW TIPS TO KEEP SAFE

 - Stalk the person or business giving you the offer

 - Message or call their contacts and references direct to ask about their credibility

 - Take someone with you to a shoot

 - Do not let anyone touch you or enter your personal space if it makes you uncomfortable

 - If  the pressure is evident and you feel vulnerable, be brave, get out, and report it.

Quoted by a wise man….

For most of us there is no shortage of desire in our lives. We desire to love. We desire to be successful or be famous. Many of us desire to be fitter or to weigh less. The problem is the distance between our desire and our action.

See, good intentions remain mostly that for misinformed models - intentions with no action. Nearly all dreams come true not by quick exposure (getting naked), but by professional direction.

Do you have that desire to be a genuine model? Put it into action by talking to professionals and take the right steps to get there. AUSSIE ELITE is here to help!
