World Supermodel competition

Race to the Runway

by Jill Antonio

Last Friday's World Supermodel Australia final cocktail party was not one to miss.

Set in the expansive Scuderia Graziani twin level showroom, 8 equally gorgeous Australian models bustled behind the curtain; ready to rock their runway walks before almost 150 excited VIP spectators, and beside 4 very flattering luxury cars.

As glasses clinked, and associates chatted - the vibe of the evening was strength, style and sex appeal at the Scuderia Graziani sports car showroom in Sydney.

Every year entrants from around the globe vie to be donned the ambassador to represent their country in the International World Supermodel competition.

With some of the most beautiful women in the world, Australia always brings some very promising candidates. Judges Brittany Bloomer, Raj Suri, Todd Tai and Paris Dwyer (as seen in picture) carefully analysed looks and personality, then the various parade walks as the fashion show unfolded.

The Australian 2016 crown went to Gold Coast beauty Taylor Curry, who will be flown to South Africa for the 9th Annual International competition in March. This is a magnificent opportunity for one ambitious woman to gain national and International acclaim, and be applauded for her grace, talent and beauty.

With a backdrop of luxurious transport and money, the models showcased various looks ranging from casual chic, swimwear and eveningwear. Some of the brands included Cebiche Swimwear, Pretty Porter kaftans, and the elegant gowns by Rose Noir.

Among those contestants was young Nina Rivers, an experienced model Internationally with a background in acting.  As second runner up in her first ever comp, Rivers was a wild card entry by one of the evening's reputable partner sponsors AUSSIE ELITE.

As an independent ethical network of professionals AUSSIE ELITE's passion is to nurture development, connect good talent with quality brands, all the while creating a safe and fair work platform for Australian models. The cocktail event saw many big industry names come together to strengthen what is a growing and thriving industry in Australia. Hosted by TV presenter Brittany Bloomer, and with guest judge legendary local lifeguard Anthony “Harries” Carroll from TV show Bondi Rescue - the evening was an all-round success.

Despite Sydney's dismally erratic weather of late, our Aussie models heated up the showroom, looking fantastic and leaving lasting Impressions with the scent of Sexxy Shoo brand perfume, the official scent of the evening.
